FTP or file transfer protocol as it is called is used for the access of directories stored on remote computer systems. FTP allows for the uploading and downloading of files using an FTP program. In order to use the FTP link you must have a username and password. Before attempting to use the FTP, make sure you have Java installed. If you have a username and password, then click on the FTP link and you will be directed to the FTP access panel, then type in the username and password and click on FTP, the FTP window will appear next. The window on the left is you computer and the window on the right is what is stored in the directory, if you are down loading then start by selecting the file that is located in the directory (right-side). Then choose a location where you want the down loaded file to go (left-side), I would recommend either your desktop or my documents if you are not familiar with this process. Once you have chosen the file to download and the location on your computer to down load, then click on the down load button located on the bottom of the screen. The file transfer will begin immediately, down loading time will vary depending on the size of the file being transferred. After your transfer is complete, just close the FTP window. If you are uploading, just do the process in reverse and click on upload at the bottom of the screen. Files located in the directory are compressed in formats such as winrar,winzip, and bin format.
